The Jets entered the NFL Draft with seven selections, but after trading down multiple times, the team accumulated nine draft picks. The team also added a fifth-round selection in the 2018 Draft through a trade with the Dallas Cowboys. The star of the team's 2017 Draft class was Jamal Adams, who was selected sixth overall and previously played for Louisiana State University. New York doubled down on safeties with its second pick, 39th overall, by selecting the University of Florida's Marcus Maye.

With its next two picks, the Jets added a pair of wide receivers in ArDarius Stewart and Chad Hansen, both of whom are expected to fit nicely into the team's West Coast offensive scheme. Hansen, considered by one analyst as the best player available on the third day of the Draft, accumulated 1,249 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns with California last season. The Jets continued to complement its offensive attack with the selections of tight end Jordan Leggett and running back Elijah McGuire. The team also added cornerbacks Derrick Jones and Jeremy Clark and defensive end Dylan Donahue.
